The presence of phosphate in wastewater treatment plant sludge leads to phosphorous precipitation, producing struvite. This phenomenon is more severe if phosphorous elimination is carried out via biological processes. Struvite precipitates along all sludge line, progressively reducing its section.

Feramap has been specially designed for sludge dehydration processes in municipal sewage plants susceptible to struvite precipitation.

Feramap acts in two ways:

- Phosphate, which is a key component of struvite, is coagulated.

- pH is reduced, creating an environment which is adverse for crystallization.

Feramap does not contain phosphoric or phosphonic acids, avoiding further suply of phosphorus.
